Measurement Requirements

A Dressage Pony is any breed of horse or pony that measures at or below 148 cm without shoes or 149 cm with shoes.  That translates to about 14.2 1/4 hands.  If your pony already has a USEF measurement card, you will need to send a copy with your entry forms.  There will be an official measurement conducted at the show for any ponies without a card.  There is no charge for measurements or the paperwork processing.

Measurement Times

Measurement Times
Measurement times will be detailed with your entry information.
Check with the show secretary for any changes upon your arrival at the show.

Measurement Forms

Measurement Forms
The USEF provides forms to be filled out with the information needed to have your pony measured. We will include these forms in the show packet at check in and they will need to be presented with your pony at inspection.

Prepare Your Pony

Prepare Your Pony
To facilitate a speedy measuring process, it will help to have your pony trained to stand quietly and squarely with his head lowered so that his withers are the highest part of his body.  You can practice this at home to prepare him for people approaching him with a large stick so that he learns to stand still.  Ponies should be presented neatly groomed with a halter.  They will be jogged to check for lameness during the measurement exam.  Ponies should trot quietly next to their handler for several strides on a hard surface.
